Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2025

Hey, thanks for checking this out

Look, we're not big on corporate speak here at Jade Valorium. This privacy policy is basically our promise to you about how we handle your info. We've kept it straightforward because, honestly, privacy shouldn't be complicated.

What we collect and why

When you reach out to us or use our site, we'll probably grab some basic stuff - your name, email, phone number, maybe your project details if you're sharing them. We need this to actually, you know, respond to you and work on your project.

Our website might also pick up some technical bits like your IP address and what browser you're using. That's mostly so we can keep the site running smoothly and figure out if something's broken.

How we use your information

We're not selling your data or anything sketchy like that. Here's what we actually do:

  • Get back to you about projects and inquiries - that's the main one
  • Send updates about your ongoing projects if you're working with us
  • Occasionally share some interesting sustainability news or project showcases, but only if you've said that's cool
  • Keep records for our contracts and legal stuff (gotta do it, sorry)
  • Make the website better based on how people use it

Cookies and tracking

Yeah, we use cookies. Not the chocolate chip kind, unfortunately. These little files help us remember if you've visited before and how you navigate around. Most browsers let you block cookies if that's your thing, but it might make parts of the site a bit wonky.

We've got Google Analytics running to see what pages people actually look at. It's anonymous though - we can't tell it's specifically you clicking around.

Who else sees your info

We don't hand out your information like business cards. But there are a few scenarios where it might get shared:

  • If we're collaborating with engineers, contractors, or consultants on your project (and only what they need to know)
  • Our email and hosting providers technically have access, but they're bound by their own privacy agreements
  • If the law requires it - court orders, regulatory stuff, that kind of thing

That's pretty much it. We're not in the business of sharing client info.

Your rights (the important bit)

Since we're based in Canada, you've got some solid rights under privacy laws. Here's what you can do:

  • Ask what info we have about you - we'll show you
  • Request corrections if something's wrong
  • Tell us to delete your data (unless we legally have to keep it for contracts and stuff)
  • Opt out of marketing emails anytime - there's an unsubscribe link in every email
  • Lodge a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner if you think we've messed up

Just shoot us an email at info@jadevalorium.info if you want to exercise any of these rights.

Keeping your data safe

We take reasonable precautions to keep your information secure. Our servers are protected, we use encryption where it makes sense, and access is limited to team members who actually need it for their work.

That said, nothing's 100% bulletproof on the internet. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a breach, we'll let you know as required by Canadian law.

How long we keep stuff

We don't hoard data forever. General inquiries might stick around for a year or so. If you become a client, we'll keep project records for about seven years - that's standard for architecture firms and helps with warranties, liability, and regulatory requirements.

After that, we'll either delete it or anonymize it so it can't be traced back to you.

Third-party links

Sometimes we'll link to other websites - maybe a supplier's site or a sustainability resource. Once you click away from our site, this privacy policy doesn't apply anymore. Check out their policies if you're curious about how they handle data.

Kids and privacy

Our services aren't really aimed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from minors. If you're a parent and think your kid has sent us their info, let us know and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We might update this policy occasionally - usually when we add new services or if privacy laws change. We'll post any updates here with a new date at the top. If it's a major change, we'll probably send an email to let folks know.

Questions? Just ask

If anything here seems unclear or you've got questions, seriously, just reach out. We're actual humans who check our email.
